What decides it at this specification

A 5G phone needs the right bands, not just the badge. In India the networks lean on n78 and n28, and a phone that lists 5G but omits those will fall back to 4G where you live. The second thing worth knowing is that 5G drains the battery faster than 4G for the same browsing, which is why most phones let you cap the network.

The band list is rarely on the retailer’s page. It is on the manufacturer’s own specification sheet, under network or connectivity, and it is worth the two minutes it takes to find before buying — a phone sold in several countries may ship a different band set in each, and the one that matters is the one for the unit on sale here.

The number of bands is also a weaker signal than it looks. A phone listing a dozen is covered almost everywhere; one listing three can still be the right phone if those three are the ones your operator runs in your city. Which band your operator uses where you live is the question, and it is answerable: coverage depends on the tower near you, not on the count printed on the box.

We list 58 5g phones, from ₹11,499 — 72% of the 81 phones we track. Samsung accounts for the most of them with 18, across 12 brands in all. Every price was read from the shop's own page and carries the date it was checked, and the order on this page is highest score first.
